Something new

I really enjoyed blogging when I was away last year but I though it would be fun to do something different while I am away this year. I currently work at Jonathan Avery and this Christmas Jo gave me the cutest little crochet owl. They are all hand-made by her and sold in the shop, I do love them. So I have this little owl now sitting on my dressing table and I though maybe he could come with me? I will try to take little pictures of him (I think it is a he) around my travels and attempt to post them on my blog.
However this poor owl doesn't have a name, so I welcome any suggestions and maybe we can decide together? All ideas welcome!

So, whats the plan stan?

In the lead up to my departure I thought it may be good if I shared with you the plan for John and I's trip. I have to admit it is still just the bare bones of a plan, but I think it will need to remain so until we arrive to let us be flexible, mud slides and all!
On the 14th we set off for the 'Big Smoke' of London where our flight will leave on the 15th, very early! The first destination is Rio and we are staying in Copacabana, tres classy. I am rather tempted to get a spray tan just so I am not completely luminous on arrival, pale and beautiful my arse, it will be an eye sore.
The vague trajectory of the trip is Brazil, Uruguay, Argentina, Chile, Peru and on to Ecuador, where I will fly home at the end of June. Seems epic when I put it all down like that.

I actually can't fathom how on earth I am going to pack, I got used to travelling light in Costa Rica and then reverted to my old habits once back in the UK (my suitcase for the All Tomorrow's Parties was hilarious, the fact it was a suitcase is just silly). So in my usual habit I am writing list upon list of what I need to take with me, which keeps getting longer. Any travelling light tips would be much appreciated!

So the planning continues and the excitment is growing. I just need to pratice my spanish more..

New year, new page, new adventure

I am not entirely sure that anyone still reads this, due to my horrific lapse in posting once I left Ciudad Quesada and returned to cold Scotland. I apologise for -never finishing my posts on this trip, I found it hard to talk about my experience once I returned as I missed Costa Rica and my time there deeply.
That is not to say I wasn't very pleased to be home!

I have had another wonderful 9 months back in Edinburgh with my friends and family, and am now about to embark on a 5 month trip around South America with my close friend John.

I leave in 33 days, there is much left to be done, so expect preparation blogging while I get ready for the next adventure.

Also, I need to go through the trauma of buying walking sandals!!!!!!!
